New Hotel for Elgin

TRAVELODGE has been given the go-ahead for a hotel in Elgin. A 61-bed facility can now be constructed at Barmuckity Business Park after planning permission was granted by Moray Council this morning. The three storey hotel will take up a prominent spot bordering the A96 road on the eastern entrance to Elgin and include a bar and restaurant area as well as parking. Cramped Inverness rail services connecting with Edinburgh, Glasgow, Elgin and Aberdeen are to increase in capacity by 45% this year – providing much-needed extra space for frustrated passengers. Blundering wind farm bosses could be hit with a convoy bill of up to £180,000 after ordering turbine parts in the wrong size. New parking charges will apply in Moray Council’s car parks in Elgin from this Wednesday, 23 May. While motorists may welcome reduced charges in some of the car parks, there will be pain for some as charges increases in other places.
