Moray - Most desirable place to visit

MORAY HAS RECEIVED a massive boost from a national holiday lettings agency with the revelation that the region was in the Top 10 most desirable places to visit of the Spring bank holiday.

Data release today by, who are the UK’s leading holiday home online resource and part of the TripAdvisor network, has placed Moray in ninth place – with only the Isle of Bute rated as more desirable in Scotland.

Rates for a two-bedroom rental in Moray average £234 for the three nights of the bank holiday, from 26 to 28 May. Many of the locations on Holiday Lettings’ list are on the coast – highlighting top spots to enjoy the spring scenery and sunshine but without overspending.

Saskia Welman, spokesperson for, says the data shows holidaymakers can get away for a bank holiday break without breaking the bank: “Most two-bedroom properties sleep four people, so for just over £19 per person, per night, you can really make the most of the long weekend.

“And where better than Moray? With its magnificent mountain scenery, spectacular seafood and glorious whisky – it’s perfect for a bank holiday break.”

Saskia pointed out that holiday homes were gaining popularity throughout the UK, adding: “They are winning against traditional hotel stays with advantages like space, facilities, privacy and incredible value. And as this demand grows, owners are generating extra income by renting out their homes with us.”

The news for Moray comes on the back of another tremendous Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival, while the region was also well represented at the highly successful trade show VisitScotland Expo in Glasgow.

A spokeswoman for VisitScotland said: “This was the 38th staging of Scotland’s biggest business-to-business event for the travel trade.

“The national tourism organisation’s flagship show gave 276 Scottish tourism businesses – including accommodation providers, visitor attractions and activity providers – from every corner of the country, the chance to showcase their products and services to more than 600 tour operators and travel agents from all over the world.”
