Known as the ‘Jewel of the Moray Firth’ the coastal town of Lossiemouth is best known for its two distinctive beaches and picturesque coastline. East Beach was originally created from former railway carriages in order to protect Seatown and provides an attractive expanse of sandy beach. Together with the estuary of the River Lossie it is an extremely popular location amongst both locals and visitors to enjoy the natural scenery and wildlife. West beach offers 3 miles of slightly different scenery including a rocky crag which is home to the picturesque Covesea lighthouse. Nearby is the spectacular Moray Golf Club with two fantastic links courses and an established history dating from 1889. The most famous resident of the town was the first Labour Prime Minister Ramsey MacDonald whose house still remains.
