Sale of Iconic 47 Bedroom Hotel on West Coast of Scotland

CCL Property is pleased to confirm the sale of the Lochalsh Hotel, a renowned landmark on Ferry Road in Kyle of Lochalsh, Highland, to Edinburgh Portobello Hotels Ltd. This transaction follows a focused marketing campaign that generated considerable interest from potential buyers, highlighting the hotel’s exceptional location and reputation.

Boasting 47 en-suite rooms, a spacious restaurant, and a lounge bar, the Lochalsh Hotel is celebrated for its panoramic views across Lochalsh and towards the Isle of Skye. Its position on the popular North Coast 500 route has long made it a destination of choice for both visitors and locals.

Sonia Patel, Director of CJ Highlands Hotels Limited, shared her enthusiasm about the acquisition:

"We are excited to welcome the Lochalsh Hotel into our portfolio. Its unique setting and storied past present significant opportunities, and we are committed to honouring the MacRae family’s legacy with a planned refurbishment that will enhance the guest experience while upholding Highland traditions."

Murdo Macrae, whose family has operated the hotel for nearly three decades, reflected on the transition:

"It has been a privilege to serve guests from around the world and to be part of the local community. We believe that under new ownership, the Lochalsh Hotel will continue to thrive as a cherished Highland destination."

David Pickering, Director of CCL Property, commented:

"This successful sale underscores the resilience of the Highland hospitality sector and the enduring appeal of the Lochalsh Hotel. Our tailored marketing approach ensured the property reached the right audience, and we are delighted to have brokered a deal that benefits all parties involved."

The completion of this sale also marks a significant milestone for the Macrae family, whose dedication has shaped the hotel’s reputation for nearly thirty years. CCL Property extends its congratulations to both the outgoing and incoming owners, and thanks the legal teams at Innes & Mackay (Inverness) and Lindsays (Edinburgh) for their professionalism throughout the process.

Looking ahead, Edinburgh Portobello Hotels Ltd is poised to build upon the hotel’s legacy, leveraging its prime Highland location and strong heritage to deliver new experiences for guests.
