Situation
The Lodges at Portsonachan are located just a short drive from the local facilities and amenities in Dalmally, Inveraray and the main central hub of Oban. Loch Awe is one of the most famous lochs in Scotland with over 60 miles of shoreline. There are many historical sites dotted around its shores including several ruined castles with the most famous being Kilchurn to the northern end and many interesting islands with Innishail, the Burial Isle for the Dukes of Argyll easily accessible.
Dalmally has a thriving Primary School, modern Health Centre, Pharmacy, Post Office, Train Station and Church. Oban, to the west, is a busy town which offers a wide range of shopping and leisure facilities, as well as a very good range of bars and restaurants. Oban also has a number of primary schools, a high school, a medical centre, a modern hospital and churches of various denominations. It is known as the “Gateway to the Isles” with an attractive sea front and busy harbour from which the Caledonian MacBrayne ferries operate serving most of the inner Hebridean islands as well as two of the outer Hebridean islands. A railway station lies adjacent to the ferry terminal. The line serves Glasgow and beyond and services run on a regular basis.
Property
Each lodge is entered via the rear elevation, opening into a welcoming central hallway. To the left, a spacious open-plan living area seamlessly combines the lounge, kitchen, and dining spaces — the perfect setting for entertaining family and friends.
The modern kitchen is fitted with a stylish range of units, complemented by contrasting worktops, and fully equipped with integrated appliances including an oven, hob, and microwave. Dual-aspect windows fill the room with natural light, enhancing its bright and airy feel.
The comfortable lounge enjoys a front-facing position with striking views over the decking and across Loch Awe. Large feature windows and high ceilings enhance the feeling of space, while offering a warm, inviting place to relax. Adjacent to the lounge is a versatile additional room, currently leading to the sauna and bathroom. This space could equally serve as a home office, study, or guest room.
Accommodation includes three bedrooms, all accessed from the central hallway. Two feature built-in wardrobes and enjoy open outlooks to the front. A stylish, contemporary family bathroom is also located off the hallway.
Dunvegan Lodge and Stirling Lodge are the slightly larger chalets, both offering an additional study space. This can be reconfigured to suit a fourth, single bedroom.
External Features
From the lounge, doors open onto a generous decking area — ideal for outdoor dining, entertaining, or simply soaking in the magnificent views. Here, a private hot tub offers the perfect spot to unwind amidst the stunning surroundings. A handy external door also connects the decking to a shower room.
The grounds are primarily laid to lawn, blending seamlessly with the landscaped environment of the wider development. Each lodge benefits from a private driveway and dedicated parking space, while the spectacular backdrop of surrounding mountains invites exploration. With countless walking and cycling trails right on the doorstep, this property sits at the heart of some of Scotland’s most captivating scenery.
