Elgin is the commercial and administrative centre of Moray and remains the county’s principle town. Home to a population of over 20,000 the town offers a number of amenities and attractions as well as primary schools, secondary schools and further education at the University of the Highlands and Islands. Elgin has a rich history and features a number of impressive buildings, most notably the ruined Cathedral which stands on the banks of the River Lossie. A number of key transport links run through Elgin including the Inverness to Aberdeen railway and the A96 trunk road, whilst Inverness airport is only 45 minutes to the West of Elgin.
